My walk home from school
There was a nice sunset...
Then this plane flew over my head...
Then I passed the Ethiopian absorbtion center... (it's where most Ethopians move when they come to Israel, it seems that some never leave the center.)
Then I passed this little patch of grass...there is a little old man who waters the grass inside the fence...it's like a tiny little garden...you can see the dirty/desert surrounding the small area.

My friend Staci has a blog L'chaim, which has some better pictures from the night hike. And her feelings about the hike and Shabbat dinner are really great. I'm glad I got to do both with her. =)

More pool pictures
I know it's far away, but under the tent is a pool. It's the "indoor" pool for swimming laps, you have to have goggles and a swim cap, but it's not really inside obviously, just under a canvas.
Israelis play paddle ball. It's just two paddles and they hit a ball back and forth for as long as they can. It's somewhat pointless, but they get really into it!
These are my Shabbat (Saturday) pool friends. We play volleyball. Today I got a little sunburned!!! But every Saturday (three so far) I have spent relaxing at the pool.
Just in case anyone thought I was "roughing it"
Nice tennis courts at the sports center...I was going to buy a new raquet and then I realized it was the cost of a months rent, so I hope someone is bringing mine from the US!

Shabbat dinner
Last night I went to a dinner/night picnic with about 15 other students. The dorm counselor (like a RA), Gali (who is Israeli) invited us. First, it was all kosher, and since she's religious and has very own dishes, she wouldn't let anyone bring anything, but I could hardly protest, because everything was delicious!! She made green lentil soup, a mushroom sauce for the challah, schnitzel (which I didn't eat, but I heard was delicious) green beans...there was hummus, cabbage, I can't remember everything, but the food just kept coming. She really out did herself, but it was the first real Shabbat I've had here, and it was delightful. All of the guests were foreigners, and mostly Americans. It was so interesting to see the different degrees of practicing religion and the range of political thought in such a small group of "American Jews."

Big Quiz
I have a big quiz tomorrow over telling time, numbers, and adjectives! So I am studying. I am going to the Beduin market tomorrow and I'm taking my camera, so I should have some nice new photos for you soon! I am also going to start taking picture of the kids that live on my street, they are really beautiful!
