Did you also know that the USS Missouri went to Istanbul in 1946 during the Turkish Straits Crisis? It carried the body of the Turkish ambassador to the U.S. (who had passed away), but was mostly on the trip as a show of force against the Soviets, who were pressuring Turkey to grant them bases in the Dardanelles.
